Personal statement

In August 2012, Lynne joined SCILT, Scotland鈥檚 National Centre for Languages based at the University of 欧美高清 initially on secondment as a Professional Development Officer.聽 Prior to this, she worked as a primary teacher at schools in West Lothian Council and Dundee City Council for over 13 years, with a whole school and cluster remits for the teaching and learning of modern languages throughout.

In her current role at SCILT, Lynne facilitates a variety of professional learning opportunities for pre-service and in-service primary teachers around early languages education policy and pedagogy.聽 She has a particular interest in the use of film and visual texts to support the learning and teaching of languages and intercultural awareness.聽

2017-2024 Lynne held various supporter roles in leadership development programmes offered by SCEL/ Education Scotland's Professional Learning and Leadership team, which focused on developing pedagogical leadership through practitioner enquiry. In addition, Lynne was Pedagogy Lead (2019-2022) and Pedagogy Tutor (2017-2023) on Teachers Learning to Teach Languages in Primary School (TeLT) programme, a blended programme combining language upskilling and primary languages pedagogy run in partnership between Open University and SCILT.

Her current activities include: membership of Languages Week Scotland steering group, a national week of advocacy; SCILT co-lead on Scotland's Languages Leadership Programme team and membership of the editorial team for the Scottish Languages Review online journal.

Research Interests

Research interests include learner voice, teacher learning and practitioner enquiry.聽 Lynne's Masters dissertation explored the professional learning experiences of primary and secondary teachers of modern languages in one local authority in Scotland.

Lynne is an active member of the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoTL) community at the University of 欧美高清.

Presently working on her EdD thesis, Lynne is using collaborative digital, visual and mobile methods to explore how teacher leadership is understood and experienced in Scotland.聽
